New test could prevent dangerous fluid overload in critically ill kids

Summary
This study tests a faster, safer method to check if critically ill children need extra fluids. Doctors will gently press on the child's belly and use a noninvasive monitor to measure blood flow. The goal is to avoid giving unnecessary fluids, which can cause harm. The study includes up to 42 children in intensive care who are already scheduled to receive fluids.
