New study aims to take the guesswork out of fluid treatment for sepsis patients

NCT ID NCT07411469

First seen Feb 15, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study looks at two methods—using ultrasound to measure the main vein in the belly and using a special heart monitor—to predict which patients with septic shock need more fluids. The goal is to give the right amount of fluid to each person, avoiding both too little and too much. About 60 adults with low blood pressure from sepsis will take part.
