Simple blood test could prevent dangerous fluid overload in sick kids

Summary
This study aims to find a simple blood marker that can tell doctors which children recovering from heart surgery will actually benefit from receiving extra IV fluids. The goal is to avoid giving fluids to children who won't be helped by them, as too much fluid can be harmful. Researchers will measure a specific ratio in the blood of 110 children before and after they receive fluids as part of their standard care.
