Heart ultrasound may guide lifesaving fluids in shock patients

Summary
This study looks at whether a simple heart ultrasound measurement (called E' variation) can tell doctors if a patient in shock will benefit from intravenous fluids. Researchers will measure the E' wave before and after giving 500 mL of fluid to 187 emergency department patients. The goal is to improve how doctors decide on fluid treatment for shock.
