Cheap pill could be key to saving lives after devastating stroke

Summary
This trial is testing if giving a low-cost steroid pill called fludrocortisone early after a severe brain bleed (aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage) can help more people survive and live independently. It will involve 524 critically ill patients in intensive care, who will be randomly assigned to receive either the real pill or a placebo. The main goal is to see if the treatment reduces death and severe disability six months later.
