Summary

This large study tested whether a new seasonal flu vaccine, made using a different manufacturing method, could prevent confirmed influenza infection. About 7,250 healthy adults received either the vaccine or a placebo shot and were monitored for flu symptoms and side effects for six months. The main goal was to see if the vaccine reduced the number of people getting the flu from strains it was designed to protect against.
