Flu shot cuts death risk for elderly after broken bones
NCT ID NCT07231016
Summary
This large study looked at whether getting a flu shot helps protect older adults after they break a bone and go to the hospital. Researchers analyzed health records of over 560,000 people aged 65+ in Taiwan who were hospitalized for fractures. They compared outcomes between those who had a recent flu vaccine and those who did not. The study found that vaccinated patients had lower rates of death and serious infections like pneumonia in the 30 days after their fracture.
