Scientists probe immune System's role in deadly Flu-Fungus combo
NCT ID NCT03748069
Summary
This study aims to understand why some people with severe flu pneumonia in the ICU later develop a dangerous fungal lung infection called aspergillosis. Researchers will compare the immune systems of 45 ICU patients with severe flu pneumonia to those with other severe pneumonias. By analyzing blood and lung fluid samples, they hope to find clues about how the flu might weaken the body's defenses against this fungus.
