Cutting vs. No-Cut: which dental implant method heals better?
NCT ID NCT07654452
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study compares two ways to place dental implants in the upper front teeth area: one that involves cutting and lifting the gum (flap technique) and one that does not (flapless technique). Sixteen adults who have been missing a tooth in that area for over a year will receive an implant using one of these methods. Researchers will measure pain, swelling, implant stability, and bone changes over six months to see which approach leads to better outcomes.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If one technique proves better, it could guide dentists toward a less painful or more stable implant procedure for missing front teeth.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 16 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. Individual healing and bone quality vary widely.
