Stool test may spot silent bleeding in heart patients on blood thinners

NCT ID NCT07327853

First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a fecal immunochemical test (FIT) can detect hidden gastrointestinal bleeding in adults who are about to start taking blood thinners (antiplatelet or anticoagulant agents). Researchers will test stool samples before starting the medication and again three months later. The goal is to see how common hidden bleeding is and whether early detection could help prevent serious gut problems.
