Fish oil drip aims to calm hearts after major surgery

Summary
This study is testing whether giving intravenous (IV) fish oil to high-risk patients after major heart surgery can help them recover better. The main goal is to see if it reduces a common complication called atrial fibrillation, an irregular heartbeat that can delay recovery. About 550 patients in Germany and Italy will receive either the fish oil treatment or a placebo (saltwater) drip along with standard care for up to a week after surgery.
