Can fish oil stop muscle wasting in lung disease?
NCT ID NCT01624792
Summary
This study tested whether fish oil supplements (EPA and DHA) could help people with COPD build muscle when taken with a protein drink. Researchers compared two different doses of fish oil against a placebo over four weeks in 64 participants. The goal was to see if these supplements could improve the body's ability to use protein to strengthen muscles, which is often a problem for people with COPD.
