Medical first: robotic bladder transplant trial begins
NCT ID NCT05462561
Summary
This is the first-ever study to test transplanting a whole bladder from a deceased donor into a patient with end-stage bladder disease. The goal is to see if this robotic surgery is a feasible and better-tolerated alternative to current major surgeries that use a piece of bowel. Five carefully selected patients will receive the transplant and be closely monitored for function and safety.
