First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether a new educational module helps medical students learn to screen patients for firearm exposure and counsel them on safety. About 360 students from UCLA's medical school will be observed during a simulated patient exam to see if those who received the training are more likely to discuss firearm safety. The goal is to improve doctors' confidence and skills in preventing firearm-related injuries.
