New feeding approach may help large babies eat on their own sooner
NCT ID NCT04599010
First seen May 30, 2026 · Last updated Jun 12, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This study tests a new way of feeding large newborns (born at 35 weeks or later) who have trouble eating by mouth. These babies often have more body fat, which may delay their ability to feed independently. The new method adjusts feeding based on the baby's lean body mass instead of standard feeding. The goal is to see if this helps them reach full oral feeding faster and reduces time in the hospital.
