New drug trial aims to shield stomachs from steroid side effects

NCT ID NCT05946135

Summary

This study tested whether a medication called fexuprazan could prevent or control gastritis (stomach lining irritation) in adults needing long-term steroid treatment for respiratory diseases. It compared fexuprazan against an existing stomach-protecting drug (lansoprazole) over four weeks. The goal was to see which drug better managed stomach symptoms in patients at risk for this common steroid side effect.
