Allergy drug could be new weapon against heart attacks

Summary

This study tests whether fexofenadine hydrochloride, a common allergy medication, can improve long-term outcomes for people who have recently had a heart attack. About 2,800 adults who had a heart attack within the past week will receive either the drug or a placebo. Researchers will track major heart and brain events over two years to see if the drug reduces risks.
