New Finger-Prick test aims to save young lives by spotting dangerous fevers faster

NCT ID NCT06422338

Summary

This study is testing if a new, rapid finger-prick blood test can help doctors make better decisions when a young child arrives with a fever. It will compare the new test, used alongside current guidelines, against the guidelines alone to see which method more accurately identifies children who need to be admitted to the hospital versus those who can safely go home. The goal is to improve health outcomes for over 5,000 children under 5 years old in sub-Saharan Africa by preventing inappropriate discharges.
