New drug tested to improve difficult late-term pregnancy termination procedure
NCT ID NCT02597699
Summary
This study tested whether adding a specific pain medication (Ultiva/remifentanil) to a standard drug (lidocaine) could improve feticide procedures. Feticide is a required step in terminating a pregnancy after 22 weeks. The trial involved 66 women and aimed to see if the new combination worked faster, was safer for the mother, and allowed for better fetal tissue analysis than the standard method.
