Groundbreaking fetal surgery trial aims to save babies with severe birth defect

NCT ID NCT07166172

Summary

This study follows babies with severe congenital diaphragmatic hernia (a life-threatening condition where organs push into the chest) who receive a special fetal surgery called FETO. The surgery temporarily blocks the baby's windpipe before birth to help lung growth. Researchers will track 80 babies to compare survival and long-term health outcomes between those who get this surgery and those who receive standard care, while also monitoring safety for both mother and baby.
