Turning medical waste into stem cell gold: a cost check
NCT ID NCT07169838
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 27 times
Summary
This study tested whether stem cells can be efficiently and affordably produced from tissues usually thrown away after childbirth, like umbilical cords and placentas. Researchers collected 160 tissue samples from healthy mothers and measured how many stem cells they could get, how often contamination occurred, and the total cost. The goal was to see if this approach could be a practical way to supply stem cells for future medical treatments.
