New ultrasound method may spare unborn babies from unnecessary surgery

NCT ID NCT07587580

First seen May 14, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether a detailed ultrasound system (IOTA) can better predict which ovarian cysts in unborn babies will cause problems. About 100 pregnant women will join, and their babies' cysts will be tracked with multiple scans before and after birth. The goal is to safely avoid surgery for cysts that are likely to go away on their own, preserving the baby's ovary.
