Could a special fetal scan predict a Baby's first breath?

NCT ID NCT04186039

Summary

This study aimed to see if a special type of MRI scan, which measures oxygen levels in the blood, could be used on fetuses with certain birth defects (like a hole in the diaphragm or abdominal wall) to predict how well their lungs will work after birth. The goal was to gather information to help doctors give better advice to expecting parents and plan care for the newborn. The trial was withdrawn before any participants were enrolled.
