Can a simple blood test spot hidden infections in unborn babies?

NCT ID NCT07211503

Summary

This study aims to see if measuring certain substances (IL-6 and lactate) in the mother's and baby's blood at birth can help identify early signs of infection or inflammation in the baby. Researchers will compare two groups of full-term pregnant women: those with a concerning fetal heart rate pattern and those with a normal pattern. The goal is to find a link between these blood markers and the baby's health, which could lead to faster treatment for at-risk newborns in the future.
