New heart monitor for unborn babies could improve detection of rhythm problems

NCT ID NCT03047161

First seen May 14, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026

Summary

This study is testing a new tool called fetal magnetocardiography (fMCG) to better understand and diagnose heart rhythm problems in unborn babies. Researchers will compare fMCG with standard ultrasound in 450 pregnant participants, including those with normal pregnancies and those with known or suspected fetal heart rhythm issues. The goal is to see if fMCG provides clearer, more accurate information about the baby's heart rate and rhythm.
