Poop pills tested to stop deadly transplant complication

NCT ID NCT06026371

Summary

This study is testing whether taking capsules containing processed, healthy stool (fecal microbiota) can prevent severe graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) in adults who have received a bone marrow transplant. GVHD is a serious and common complication where the donor's immune cells attack the patient's body. Researchers believe restoring a healthy gut environment after transplant may help prevent this dangerous condition.
