Poop transplants tested as new hope for chronic constipation

NCT ID NCT07387952

Summary

This small, early study is testing whether a fecal transplant (transferring gut bacteria from a healthy donor) combined with a special prebiotic diet can help adults with long-term functional constipation. The goal is to see if this approach is safe and can improve symptoms like infrequent bowel movements and hard stools in people who haven't gotten relief from standard laxatives or probiotics. Researchers will also check how the treatment changes the participants' gut bacteria.
