Poop pills show promise for gut disease – but not a cure
NCT ID NCT06591013
First seen Mar 30, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study tested whether transplanting healthy donor stool into the gut could help people with ulcerative colitis (UC), a chronic inflammatory bowel disease. 102 participants with mild-to-moderate UC received fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) from different donors. The goal was to achieve steroid-free remission and improve colon healing. While FMT may help control the disease, ongoing management is still needed.
