Poop transplants tested to tame deadly transplant complication
NCT ID NCT03819803
Summary
This study is testing whether transplanting stool from a healthy donor into a patient's gut can help control a severe and often deadly complication called graft-versus-host disease (GVHD). It is for patients who have had a stem cell transplant and developed steroid-resistant gut inflammation. Doctors deliver the transplant via a colonoscopy to try to restore a healthy balance of gut bacteria and reduce the disease.
