NCT ID NCT06100549
First seen Feb 14, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 8 times
Summary
This study looked at whether leftover samples from Scotland's national bowel screening program could be used to study gut bacteria. Researchers collected fresh stool samples from 116 healthy volunteers and compared them to samples stored in screening kits. The goal was to see if the stored samples still contain usable bacterial DNA, which could help answer questions about how gut bacteria relate to diseases like cancer, heart disease, and Alzheimer's.
