Dads on the phone: new study tests Father-Inclusive breastfeeding support

NCT ID NCT05109988

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested whether giving fathers and mothers weekly telephone counseling on breastfeeding could increase exclusive breastfeeding rates and improve parent-infant bonding. Over 600 new parents in Hong Kong took part, receiving four 20-30 minute sessions in the first month after birth. The goal was to see if involving fathers in this way leads to longer and more exclusive breastfeeding and better mental health for parents.
