Scientists probe why some bodies are apples, others pears
NCT ID NCT02728635
Summary
This study aims to understand why people store body fat in different patterns, often called 'apple' shape (around the belly) versus 'pear' shape (around the hips and thighs). Researchers are collecting small fat tissue samples from 27 healthy men and women to analyze the biological differences. The goal is to gather basic knowledge about fat distribution, not to test a treatment.
