Dry fasting vs. Water-Permitted fasting: which boosts cell renewal?
NCT ID NCT07638696
First seen Jun 15, 2026 · Last updated Jun 15, 2026
Summary
This study looks at how two types of fasting—Ramadan dry fasting (no food or water from dawn to sunset) and standard 16:8 time-restricted feeding (water allowed)—affect the body's ability to clean out and renew mitochondria, the energy centers of cells. Researchers will measure blood markers in 120 healthy adults over 30 days to see if dry fasting triggers a stronger cellular cleanup process. The goal is to understand whether dry fasting offers unique benefits for cell health.
