Race against infection: study tests 72-Hour surgery window for crushed legs

NCT ID NCT06293469

Summary

This study aims to find out if performing reconstructive skin flap surgery within 72 hours of a severe open leg fracture or dislocation leads to fewer infections and better outcomes than the current standard timing. It will involve 356 adults with these injuries who need a flap. Researchers will compare results like death, amputation, need for more surgery, and hospital stay length between the fast-track and standard groups.
