Race against time: new tech aims to speed up lifesaving antibiotic decisions

NCT ID NCT05741424

Summary

This study tested whether using newer, faster lab machines could help doctors choose the best antibiotic treatment more quickly for ICU patients with serious bloodstream infections. Researchers compared patient care before and after introducing these rapid diagnostic tools in one hospital. The goal was to see if getting test results faster led to more patients receiving the most effective, targeted antibiotic within 24 hours.
