New pain block could ease suffering after hip fracture surgery

Summary

This study tests whether a special numbing medicine injected near the hip before surgery can provide better pain relief for up to 3 days after hip fracture surgery in older adults. The medicine is designed to release slowly, aiming to reduce pain and the need for strong painkillers. About 148 people aged 55 and older will take part.
