New eye drug aims to clear Vision-Damaging material in wet AMD
NCT ID NCT07403825
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests the drug faricimab (Vabysmo) in 100 people aged 50+ with wet age-related macular degeneration who have a specific type of harmful material under their retina. The goal is to see if the drug can clear that material by week 16. Participants receive injections into the eye, and researchers will track how well the treatment works using advanced imaging.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
faricimab (Vabysmo) injection
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that faricimab effectively clears harmful material under the retina, potentially improving vision for people with a specific type of wet age-related macular degeneration.
What could go wrong
This is a relatively small, early-phase (Phase 4) study with only 100 participants. Results may not apply to all patients, and not everyone may see improvement. Eye injections carry risks like infection or inflammation.
