New study tests if involving parents is better for catching teen substance use early
NCT ID NCT05964010
Summary
This study is testing two different ways to screen teenagers for alcohol and drug use during regular doctor's visits. One method works with the teen alone, while the other actively involves their parent or caregiver. Researchers want to see which approach is more effective at identifying risk, improving family communication about substance use, and connecting teens to help if needed. They will follow 2,300 teens and their families for a year to compare the results.
