Breaking the cycle: new program aims to protect kids from inheriting parents' depression

NCT ID NCT00183365

Summary

This study tested a 10-week family program designed to prevent emotional problems in children whose parents have depression. It compared a full family program (with parent training, child therapy, and shared meals) against parent training alone. The research focused on low-income urban families with children aged 9-14, where parents were currently being treated for depression.
