First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study collects blood samples and medical information from people who have at least two relatives with pancreatic cancer, or one relative with pancreatic cancer and one with melanoma. The goal is to create a resource that scientists can use to study why pancreatic cancer runs in some families. Over 1,100 participants have already joined this registry at the Mayo Clinic.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this registry could help researchers better understand familial pancreatic cancer and possibly find new ways to detect or treat it in the future.

What could go wrong

This is a registry study, not a treatment trial. It collects samples for future research, so there is no direct benefit to participants and no guarantee that the data will lead to new discoveries.
