New implant aims to stop deadly aortic tears from growing

Summary
This study tests a new implant made of shape memory polymer to treat aortic dissection, a serious condition where the aorta wall tears. The implant is placed in the false lumen (the abnormal channel created by the tear) to block blood flow and prevent the aorta from growing. About 30 adults with type A or B aortic dissection will be enrolled to see if the implant is safe and works as intended.
