Cancer prevention surgery may trigger early menopause, study investigates

NCT ID NCT07423143

Summary

This study aims to find out if removing the fallopian tubes during a hysterectomy causes women to go through menopause earlier. It follows 2,100 women under 55 who were part of a previous trial where some had their tubes removed and some did not. Researchers will measure a hormone in small, mailed-in blood samples to estimate when menopause occurs and compare the two groups.
