Zap to stop falls: electrical stimulation tested to boost balance in veterans
NCT ID NCT04969094
Summary
This study is testing if a common physical therapy tool—electrical muscle stimulation—can help prevent dangerous falls in older veterans. Researchers are adding the stimulation to a standard balance and strength training program to see if it improves hip muscle strength and balance better than exercise alone. The goal is to find a more effective way to reduce fall risk for older adults who are too weak for intense exercise.
