Can tricking your insulin pump help? study investigates common diabetes hack

NCT ID NCT07179471

Summary

This study aims to find out if a common practice among people using automated insulin pumps—entering 'fake carbs' to get extra insulin—actually helps control blood sugar in children and teens with type 1 diabetes. It will observe 40 young people who already use this method, having them alternate between using and not using 'fake carbs' for two-week periods. The goal is to gather evidence to give better guidance to patients and doctors on whether this strategy is safe and effective.
