NCT ID NCT02818400
First seen May 22, 2026 · Last updated Jun 15, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study is for people who have severe facial injuries that cannot be fixed with standard surgery. Researchers will perform face transplants on 5 patients and check how well they regain the ability to close their mouth and feel touch, heat, and cold. To help the body accept the new tissue, participants will also receive a bone marrow stem cell infusion alongside standard anti-rejection drugs. The goal is to improve surgical techniques and understand how the body adapts to a face transplant.
