Can a stronger eylea dose cut eye injections in half?
NCT ID NCT07390253
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether switching wet AMD patients who don't respond well to the standard 2mg dose of aflibercept (Eylea) to a higher 8mg dose can extend the time between injections while keeping vision stable. Fifty adults who have already had at least four 2mg injections will receive the higher dose and be followed for 12 months. The goal is to see if fewer injections are needed without losing vision benefits.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
aflibercept (8 mg injection)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could allow wet AMD patients to go longer between eye injections while keeping their vision stable.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase study with only 50 participants. The higher dose may not work better or could cause more side effects like eye inflammation or vision changes.
