Eye surgery safety test: one nurse watches many screens
NCT ID NCT02037009
Summary
This study tested whether monitoring patients from a central station outside the operating room is as safe as having a dedicated anesthesia nurse in each room during common eye surgeries like cataract removal. Researchers compared the two methods across 900 patients to see if the centralized approach led to more safety issues or poor surgical conditions. The goal was to determine if this new monitoring setup is a safe and feasible alternative to current practice.
