Eye study seeks clues to prevent blindness risk after surgery

NCT ID NCT03152747

Summary

This study aimed to understand why nearsighted people have a higher risk of a serious eye problem called retinal detachment after cataract or lens replacement surgery. Researchers followed over 600 patients for up to five years to see if a common eye condition called posterior vitreous detachment (PVD) influences this risk. The goal was to gather information to help doctors better predict and potentially prevent this complication in the future.
