Surgeons test new eye technique to protect central vision in diabetics

NCT ID NCT07271719

Summary

This study compares two ways of performing a delicate eye membrane peel during surgery for advanced diabetic eye disease. Researchers want to see if leaving a tiny, central area of the membrane untouched (foveal sparing) leads to better vision and eye structure recovery after surgery compared to removing it completely. The study involves 48 diabetic patients who need this specific eye surgery and will follow their recovery for six months.
