Can a shot in the eye stop blindness before it starts?

NCT ID NCT02462889

Summary

This study tested if regular injections of a drug (aflibercept) into the eye could prevent a common eye disease from turning into its more severe, vision-threatening form. It involved 128 people at high risk for this progression because their other eye already had the severe form. Participants received either the real injection or a sham (fake) injection every three months for two years to see which group had fewer cases of the severe disease.
